Wade Cairns, LGPC - Intern

Hi, I’m Wade (they/them), a counseling intern currently pursuing my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Hood College.

The search for help can be overwhelming. I’m happy you have begun yours, and I’m touched that you are considering including me in your therapeutic journey. Whether you find support with me or another therapist, you are worthy of help. I will work with you to create a supportive, collaborative space where you feel seen, heard, and respected.

Therapy is a collaborative process, and I aim to meet you where you are while supporting you in exploring your experiences, building insight, and working towards your goals. All of us deserve the chance to develop and explore our sense of self, but when you're chronically stressed or in survival mode, identity and self-exploration can become deprioritized.

My approach is rooted in empathy, and I draw from person-centered, emotion-focused, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approaches. As a trans masculine genderqueer person, I am passionate about providing gender-affirming, trans-competent care and continue to seek out continuing education. To enhance my ability to provide affirming and competent care, I have completed an LGBTQGEQIAP+ affirming counseling training and am currently working to complete a certificate specializing in trauma, crisis, grief, and loss through Hood College. I enjoy working with individuals across diverse identities, ages, and backgrounds. My previous experience includes working with neurodivergent kids and teens.
